Writer's Room

Inspired by our fun aunt, television, we use a writer's room format to conceptualize, outline and draft novellas in a collaborative environment. Our books still have an author, but also contributing writers and editors.
OUR Concept
In autumn 2019, four creatives found each other in a master of fine arts program in San Diego. Today, we are not only writers and editors trained in crafting long-form fiction, but also deadline-driven professionals who want to work on and help to preserve this beloved, longstanding artform.
The majority of professional writers will agree that publishing a work of long-form fiction is hardly an individual effort. Authors depend upon writer's groups, preferred editors, and trusted confidants to read drafts. Not to mention an entire supporting cast of friends and family members.
At NEP, we're just taking what writers already do and shaking it up a bit. Our press is pioneering a hybrid concept that combines the art of literary, workshop-style feedback with the spirit of a production-focused writer's room. This means getting to know an author's characters and storyline, pitching ideas, then improvising and riffing off of one another until tangible ideas form. Collaboration means richer narratives and more stories.
